What is a CPU?

A CPU (Central Processing unit) is the brain of computer and is used to calculate all of the processes that the PC needs to preform. For example: the CPU processes the actions taken by NPC (Non- player characters) in video games. It is essentially important to have a good CPU if the gamer primarily plays RTS (Real Time Strategy) games.

What is the MoBo (Motherboard)

The MoBo (Motherboard) is the central circuit that all the other components of a PC plug in. The MoBos job is to relay information from one component the other, such as from the keyboard to the processor to the monitor. The motherboard houses the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) which is the basic software used to control simple needs for the PC without the need for an OS (Operating System) but can still be used with an OS. The BIOS does several things when the computer turns on including:
  1. Check the CMOS (Complementary metal-oxide-semiconducter) Setup for custom settings.
  2. Load the interrupt handlers and device drivers.
  3. Initialize registers and power management.
  4. Perform the power-on self-test (POST).
  5. Display system settings.
  6. Determine which devices are bootable.
  7. Initiate the bootstrap sequence.
